DAY 2 (SAT)
ISTANBUL - SULTANAHMET (GROUP WALKING TOUR)
8:10 – 8:45 Departure from your hotel. Today
we will visit the Saint Sophia (Haghia
Sofia) which was built by the emperor Justinian
in the 6th century A.D and stands over much
older remains of a church. See beautiful mosaics
of biblical scenes and the Byzantine emperors
and empresses. We continue to the Blue Mosque,
which was built in the 17th century and is the
only imperial mosque with 6 minarets. We
continue to
the Hippodrome, a
stadium and meeting place in Byzantine times,
the Serpent Pillar from Delphi and the
Egyptian
Obelisk, with the Fountain of
Wilhelm. We will also visit the Caferaga
Medresesi which was a school designed by the
famous architect Sinan in 1560 and is now used
for workshops in traditional Ottoman arts. We
will have lunch and continue with the Turkish
and Islamic Arts Museum originally built as
the Palace of Ibrahim Pasha in 1524 with fine
examples of Islamic Calligraphy, tiles and
carpets. Then we will explore the Topkapi
Palace. It was the home of the Ottoman
sultans from the 15th-19th century A.D. We see
the Imperial Treasury with the famous
Spoonmaker Diamond. Also the Baghdad
Kiosk, the Armory with its collection
of Ottoman weapons and a fine collection of
ceramics. (Harem section is optional and due an
extra entry fee). The tour ends in the Grand
Bazaar, which has over 4000 shops full of
treasures Return to your hotel around 17:30. *This
tour may be done completely as a walking tour. (On
Mondays the St Sophia is closed and is replaced by
the Yerebatan Underground Cistern) At leisure until
20:30 and transfer to the Karakoy ferry dock where
you will take a short ferry ride and get off at the
first stop (Haydarpasa Train Station) and you will
board the train and departure at 22:30. Overnight in
private sleeper OR overnight in Istanbul and flight
the next morning (flight, transfer and hotel is

DAY 3 (SUN)
ANKARA - CAPPADOCIA
You will arrive early morning around 8.00 in Ankara
if going by train (breakfast may be taken on the
train but it is not included) or if going by flight
we will transfer you to the Istanbul airport for
morning flight to Ankara and you will be picked up
from the Ankara airport. The tour starts with the
Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, which is
located in a restored bazaar. The museum has the
most unique and priceless collection of artifacts
dating back to the prehistoric era. Then we will
continue with the Mausoleum of Ataturk, which
serves as a tribute to the founder of modern Turkey.
We will then begin our drive to Cappadocia.

DAY 4 (MON)
CAPPADOCIA
Today we explore Cappadocia with the underground
city of Kaymakli and the natural citadel of Uchisar.
We will then visit the Goreme Valley and the
Open
Air Museum featuring ancient churches with colorful
frescoes, which are hewn from the rock. The next
stop is Pasabagi Valley (Zelve region), with its vineyards,
volcanic cones and monk's dwellings. We will then
visit the famous pottery center of Avanos. Overnight
in 4* hotel. B.L.D.
DAY 5 (TUE)
CAPPADOCIA - KONYA - PAMUKKALE
We will depart early in the morning for Konya,
visiting the 13th century Seljuk caravansary of Sultanhan. The next stop will be Konya with the
Mevlana Museum. Home of the famous "Whirling
Dervishes. Arrive in Pamukkale and overnight in 4*
thermal hotel. B.L.D.
DAY 6 (WED)
PAMUKKALE - APHRODISIAS - KUSADASI
In the morning visit the ancient site of Hierapolis,
including theater, Apollo Temple and necropolis,
then the calcium terraces of Pamukkale. Today we
will also visit the Greco-Roman site of Aphrodisias.
Continue to Kusadasi through the Meander Valley and
overnight in 4* hotel. B.L.D.
DAY 7 (THU)
EPHESUS - HOUSE OF VIRGIN MARY- BASILICA OF ST JOHN
- KUSADASI
Today we will visit the house of Virgin Mary, then
Ephesus with the Library of Celsius, temple of
Hadrian, agora and fantastic Greco-Roman theater and
the Basilica of St. John. Overnight in 4*
hotel Kusadasi. B.L.D.
DAY 8 (FRI)
KUSADASI - PERGAMON - TROY - CANAKKALE
Today we will visit Pergamon, with its impressive
theater and acropolis high atop the hill. Was famous
for the Zeus Temple. We will also visit the Asclepion, which as a famous center of healing in
the ancient world. Finally we drive to Troy, the
legendary city of Homer, which has nine principal
levels of occupation covering a period of 3000
years. Dinner and overnight in Canakkale (or Assos) 4* hotel. B.L.D.
DAY 9 (SAT)
CANAKKALE - ISTANBUL
After breakfast we will begin the drive to Istanbul.
We will cross the Dardanelles by ferry and
visit the WWI battlefields of Gallipoli.
Return to Istanbul and overnight in 4* hotel. B.L
Day 10 (SUN)
DEPARTURE
Transfer to airport for departure. B.
