Information
about Bodrum, Turkey

Bodrum is a resort on the south Aegean Sea and is popular with the jet set of Turkey, yet the old town of Bodrum with its whitewashed cubic houses with small windows and tight marina, filled with gulets and sailboats is quite romantic. The history of Bodrum is impressive. Following the Persian invasion, Caria (the area around present day Bodrum) was ruled by a satrap called Mausolus in the 4th c B.C. He moved the capital here and called the town Halicarnassus. His wife undertook the construction of the great monumental tomb for him upon his death, which became one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. You can still see the foundations of the Mausoleum and construction of a huge model is at hand. Bodrum was also the birthplace of the "Father of History", Herodotus. Bodrum's attractions include shopping, nightlife, restaurants, and opportunity for a Blue Voyage and you should not miss a visit of the impressive medieval Castle of St. Peter, built by the Knights of Rhodes to guard the entrance to the sea. You will definitely want to also see the glass-shipwreck exhibit, the Uluburun Wreck exhibit and the Karia Princess. You will need a half-day to visit the castle. From Bodrum, you may visit the Greek island of Cos by ferry or continue to Greece. Bodrum has gained the reputation of being the center of the Turkish art and high society crowds, with its lively, friendly atmosphere. The evenings are for sitting idly in small cafes or dining by the sea in one of the many enchanting villages lined along the peninsula. Afterwards, nightclubs, bars and superb discos keep you going until dawn. Bodrum is easily accessible with regular Turkish airlines and international charter flights. The 32 km. transfer from Milas-Bodrum airport takes only approximately thirty minutes.
We organize Blue Cruise gulet cabin charters and complete yacht charters from Bodrum.
