Hitit
Hotel is a boutique hotel located within a
very short walking distance of the center of
Urgup in Cappadocia. The hotel consists of
an Ottoman style house with ornate stone
work façade that was built around 200 years
ago. Three of the original rooms in the main
hotel building have very high ceilings, the
other standard rooms have arches like a
caravanserai and are made out of the natural
stone. The owner of Hitit Hotel, Orhan and
his son Erhan have an underground city in
back of the hotel behind the spacious garden
area, which offers both indoor and outdoor
dining. There are now 3 deluxe cave rooms
with Jacuzzi available as guest rooms, which
are carved into the rock cliff. The deluxe
rooms have mini-bar, wireless internet
connection and LCD T.V. vanity desk and safe
deposit box as well as all amenities of the
standard rooms. The complex of underground
rooms goes high into the rock wall and there
are series of dovecotes and shafts with hand
holds and resting chambers that lead
upwards. One room was used as a dovecote and
a stable, but before that must have been one
of the main entries of the complex as it
still has its huge millstone security door.
Hitit Hotel has 19 rooms all featuring
modern and clean facilities with direct dial
telephone, central heating, private toilet
and shower with hair dryer, Satellite T.V
and minibar. Breakfast is included in the
room rate and served in the conservatory or
the garden and dinner may be served by
arrangement. Light meals and drink services
are offered until 22:00. Complimentary tea,
coffee and cookies are on hand and guests
may use the hotels refrigerator or
microwave. Hitit hotel provides laundry
service, dry cleaning, clothes pressing and
shoe-shine and fax service and free internet
in the lobby. Hitit Hotel is a good choice
for a moderately priced, family run hotel in
Cappadocia. |
