Classic Kekova - Private Gulet Cruise

This 5 day cruise is probably the best in Turkey as it takes in the most unspoiled part of the Turkish Riviera. The coastline is dramatic, with mountain ranges sprouting up behind the rocky shores, small pebble and sand beaches. There are many lovely and natural places for swimming and sunbathing, yet this area is not yet spoiled by mass tourism. The closest airport is Dalaman airport and the transfer time to Kas is approximately 2.5 hours from Dalaman and 3.5 hours from Antalya. Yet, it is well worth a visit and we hope that you will enjoy an enchanting cruise of the Kekova Island area.

Day 1: ARRIVAL

Arrival in Dalaman Airport or Antalya Airport and take public transportation or transfer to Kas. Arrival and make your way to the gulet. Overnight on the gulet. (Boarding is in the evening, or if you prefer overnight in hotel of your choice.)

Day 2: KAS - ULUBURUN – UFAKDERE – INONU BAY

Departure at 9:30 to Kovan Island for breakfast and continue past Uluburun, which is known as the place where the oldest Bronze Age ship wreck was located (a replica has been sunk in Hidayet bay for divers). Continue to Ufakdere then Inonu Bay for lunch. After that we go to Yaglica Bay for tea and coffee. A quiet and unspoiled bay. Cruise to Sicak Peninsula and overnight on gulet. B.L.D.

Day 3: APERLAI - UCAGIZ
Breakfast on the boat and you may walk along the ancient Lycian way and poke around the ruins of Aperlai with rock tombs and remains from a castle built during the Byzantine era. Around 11:00. Continue to Ucagiz, an unspoiled fishing village with old stone houses, a group of rock tombs and islands that have been carved out in ancient times to make rock tombs, the castle and the quaint stone houses. Overnight in Ucagiz. B.L.D.

*Above Ucagiz is Cevreli Village (Tyberissos) located on top of a 365 m high hill facing Tirmisin Valley and Kilicli (Apollonia). The ancient city is built on two summits of the hill. On the northern summit, there is the acropolis of the city. On the southern summit, there is a church built like the Temple of Apollo in Doric style, using the stones of the temple (A visit is not included in the cruise but arrangements may be made to see the area).

Day 4: UCAGIZ - KEKOVA (DOLICHISTE)
We will have breakfast in Ucagiz (Theimussa) Harbor and then continue to the Village of Simena, which is unchanged after many years. If you like you can climb up to the castle for a magnificent view, see olive trees that are hundreds of years old and ancient Lycian tombs. It is also possible to trek a short distance from Ucagiz village behind the mountain passing Lycian Rock tombs and very ancient olive trees, where you end up at the castle and walk down into the village of Simena. We then cruise to the sunken city around Kekova Island where you can see the remains of an ancient harbor and houses sunken under the water. Also visit Tersane with remains of an old Byzantine church with shops submerged beneath the water. Overnight in Gokkaya Bay (IstladaŹ). B.L.D.

*It is also possible to visit Demre and the Church of St Nicholas, who was the Bishop of Patara and the Myra Rock tombs and Theater. (A visit is not included in the cruise but arrangements may be made to see the area).

Day 5: DEPARTURE
Breakfast on the gulet and transfer or taxi and public transport to your next destination. B.
