DIYARBAKIR
Known in classical times as Amidia, located in southeastern Anatolia, the city stands
above the Tigris. The black basalt outer walls and towers of the ancient city look
impressive from whichever direction you approach them. Locals like to call their city
''the Paris of the East." .
