Information about Mt. Ararat
The legendary resting place of Noah's Ark, Mount Ararat, also known as “Agri” is located in eastern Turkey near the Armenian and Iranian borders. The summit is 5137 m above sea level and is the highest peak in Turkey and Europe. Mount Ararat is an inactive volcano capped year round with ice and snow. It last erupted in 1840 during a violent earthquake. Southwest of the mountain, the Little Mount Ararat rises up to 3896 meters and the Serdarbulak lava plateau at 2600 m stretches out between the two peaks.
