Itinerary: Ephesus
and Istanbul Shore Excursions
Lisa, Rina and Suleyman. We finally got home after a wonderful trip and I
am now rested enough to reflect back on the wonderful tours you provided for
Marilyn, Kay and me in Turkey. All three of us are mentally ready to head
back to Turkey and experience more -- alas, our bodies demand rest.
Volkan Oltu and a driver met us at the dock in Kusadasi. He is a wonderful
Ephesus guide. He is an archeologist and obviously loves Ephesus. Marilyn
and Kay were smiling all the way through that visit and I thoroughly enjoyed
learning so much about the site and history of the surrounding area compared
to my 40+ person group trip eight years ago. We thoroughly enjoyed the
visit to The Virgin Mary's Home and the Ephesus Museum. We chose a drive-by
visit to St. John's Basilica -- too tired.
We had lunch at a rug cooperative. The chicken and vegetables served for
lunch were fresh, well prepared and excellent. None of us were in the
market for rugs, but we did enjoy the demonstration of rug making and
learned a lot about the different types of rugs and dyes.
Our day with you, Suleyman, was "the icing on the cake"! We had such a
wonderful time! We especially appreciated your openness in talking with us about
almost everything we could think of concerning archeology, history, culture
and religion in Turkey.
I made a big, big mistake. We were planning on coming back down to
Sultanhamet Square to visit Hagia Sophia and the Grand Bazaar the next day.
I thought your time would be wasted in the museum at Hagia Sophia and that
we could better roam around on our own. So unfortunately I passed up your
offer to take us to Hagia Sophia and did not remember that it would be
closed on Monday. So Kay and Marilyn missed it. Perhaps on a future visit.
Through an agent's message board, I have been asked for your company
information and will be posting it. Hopefully I can send some more business
your way and you can get that house finished. Please keep my name and
e-mail and feel free to contact me if I can be of any help to you.
Hopefully, we will do business again in the future.
