Arrival in the early afternoon and board the gulet in Kas harbor. If arriving early you may still be able to stow your bags on board and discover the small harbor town of Kas. When all of our guests have arrived we will cruise past cape Uluburun and the rough rocky coast of Lycia to the Bay of Inonu where there are small caves under the water. We will enjoy swimming, snorkeling and relaxation before heading to a protected cove. Dinner and overnight on the gulet. D.
After a hardy breakfast on board we cruise to Aperlai. We tie up our hiking  [aperlai] boots for the first walking experience in Lycia. Aperlai is an ancient city from the 5th century BC, mentioned by Pliny, the city was important enough to strike its own coinage. City walls, some watch towers and gates are well preserved. We will walk among the ancient ruins of Aperlai scattered by and under the water and across the flat isthmus. We continue to Ucagiz village where we board our gulet again in Ucagiz harbor and then may swim in aquarium bay or nearby with crystal clear waters around Kekova. Dinner and overnight on board in a cove in the Kekova Island area. B.L.D.
Today we can visit the village of Simena (Kalekoy) which has changed little in the past years. Be sure to see the picturesque Lycian tomb which is submerged in the waters. We can climb up to the castle (entry fee is extra) which crowns the village and offers an incredible view of theIsland of Kekova. Today there will be ample opportunities for swimming and snorkeling near the sunken city of Kekova. In the afternoon an optional walk (approximately 1 hr) to the unknown ancient city of Tyberisos may be made. In the evening we will anchor in a quiet bay. Dinner and overnight on board. B.L.D.
We will cruise to the beautiful bay near Andriake and will have time to snorkel and swim in the clear waters. After lunch we will walk to Andriake, the harbour settlement of the ancient town of Myra (Demre). It was founded in the early Hellenistic age but became silted upon in the medieval period. We will have a picturesque view of the ancient city with its granaries built on the occasion of Hadrian’s visit in the 2nd century A.D. from over the lake which is a bird sanctuary. The ancient site of Andriake may also be visited (entry fee is extra). We continue to the cold sulphur springs of Burguc which are visited by the locals as the waters are curative. You may enjoy a refreshing dip in these pools, which will leave you with a tingling sensation of your skin. Optional: According to the wishes of the group a visit can be made to Demre where there are two places of interest. Myra, possibly dating back to the 5th  centurhy BC was a leading city of the Lycian Union in ancient times became the capital city of Lycia in the Byzantine era. There are unique and impressive rock tombs carved in the cliff and a theater. It is also possible to visit the Church of St Nicholas in Demre which containes the tomb of St Nicholas, born in the 4th century AD who was the Bishop of Myra and the inspiration for Santa Clause. The church as some fine mosaics and frescoes. The excursion to Demre with entry fees to the sights is not included in the package, and price will depend upon the number of partipants who share the cost of the transportation. We will spend the evening in the quiet bay of Camlik in Gokkaya. B.L.D.
Today we will cruise to Karolos Bay for a swim. After lunch was will start our hike from the from the boat house via Simena where there are some impressive ancient Lycian tombs and arrive again in Ucagiz, a charming town on the water. We can explore the old town and the ruins of the ancient city of Teimiussa, founded around the 4th century BC. which lies just east of the harbor. The main ruins are in the necropolis with a large cluster of sarcophagi, mainly dating from the Roman period. The oldest ruins are rock-cut house type tombs. There is a large ancient dock 28m long and 8m wide carved out of the living rock. The rest of the day we will be able to swim and relax around the sunken city of Kekova. Overnight in one of the bays. After cruising to Ufakdere, which is a picturesque bay, we embark on a trek along the rocky coast, where we will be treated to views of the islands including the Greek Island of Meis before continuing in land and over the flats to the small bay of Limanagzi where there are small beaches. We can swim and snorkel in the clear waters here where there are underwater rock formations, fish and also possible to see Caretta Caretta turtles. We will spend overnight in the bay of Limanazi. Today we will coninue our hike. We will either climb the natural rock  [lycia hike cruise 6] staircase or we can continue along the narrow path on the cliffs where we pass rock carved tombs. We will old stone water cisterns, olive groves and some old houses before arriving in Kas. We can visit the ancient amphitheater which has a magnificent view out over the bay to the Greek Island of Meis. You can enjoy walking around Kas with its small craft shops, harbor with fisherman’s boats. At noon we go out one last time for swimming and snorkeling before returning to Kas for the evening. Overnight in one of the bays near Kas or in Kas harbor. B.L.D.
After breakfast on board you will say farewell to your guide, the captain and first mate.

You will enjoy this unique experience which offers walking and hiking, sunbathing, snorkeling and swimming all combined with a visit to some of the most beautiful bays and unforgettable ancient sites and villages in Turkey between Myra (Demre) area and Kas (West of Antalya). Yacht hiking on a Turkish gulet is the way to go!

The lesser developed southwest Mediterranean coastal area of Turkey has much to offer with some of the bluest and clearest waters (best snorkeling and diving in Turkey) enchanting coastal paths and Toros Mountain backdrop, not to mention the Kekova Island area and the picturesque small harbor town of Kas.

The ancient sites of the area bear witness to the historical importance of the region. Myra was the bishopric of St. Nicholas (Santa Claus) and was an important center of early Christianity. The ruins of this ancient site and its harbor Andriake are a reminder of the Roman and Lycian times. You will see Lycian rock tombs, villages and villagers, shepherds with their goats and ancient sites on a cultural and scenic coastline. Lately the Loggerhead (Caretta Caretta) Turtle  population seems to have increased, so you may be fortunate enough to view these graceful creatures in their natural habitat! The cruise-hike on the Lycian Way invites you to enjoy the best of what southern Turkey has to offer by exploring by both land and sea.

About the cruise-hike gulets:
The Albatros Q gulet is 18 m long built in the finest Turkish tradition.The five cabins are equipped with double beds, storage space and private shower and toilet. Her sister ship the Avuncan is a larger ketch style gulet with a lovely and spacious deck and features 7 cabins also with modern private facilities. Both have dining areas, sunbeds and protective tarp which you can use both during the day, or if you would like to sleep out under the stars in the evening. Life on board the gulet is relaxing and comfortable even if you do not want to join the hikes. You can read, listen to music, hang out at the ships bar, snorkel, sunbathe and swim just enjoying the days.

Your hosts: Most of the hiking cruises will be hosted by Captain Ertan (owner of Albatros Q) andhis wife Seda, who is a licensed professional guide speaking English, German and Turkish and who will lead the walks whenever she is available. A ship’s mate will also assist onboard (total crew of 3).

Meals onboard: The chef treats you to a variety of delicious Turkish cuisine. In the mornings we enjoy an ample and varied breakfast with complimentary tea and coffee, lunches feature fresh salad and fruit. For the evening meal is a balance mix of vegetables, salad, meat or fish. Sometimes we also have a grill onboard! You may purchase beverages and local spirits from the ships bar at reasonable prices.
