Turkey Walking and Cruise Holiday - Hike and Sea!
8 Days and 7 nights: Cruise-hiking the Lycian Coast of Turkey with a traditional gulet from Kas (Saturday Departures in season*) – Small group tour
You will enjoy this unique experience which offers walking and hiking, sunbathing, snorkeling and swimming all combined with a visit to some of the most beautiful bays and unforgettable ancient sites and villages in Turkey between Myra (Demre) area and Kas (West of Antalya). Yacht hiking on a Turkish gulet is the way to go!
The lesser developed southwest Mediterranean coastal area of Turkey has much to offer with some of the bluest and clearest waters (best snorkeling and diving in Turkey) enchanting coastal paths and Toros Mountain backdrop, not to mention the Kekova Island area and the picturesque small harbor town of Kas.
The ancient sites of the area bear witness to the historical importance of the region. Myra was the bishopric of St. Nicholas (Santa Claus) and was an important center of early Christianity. The ruins of this ancient site and its harbor Andriake are a reminder of the Roman and Lycian times. You will see Lycian rock tombs, villages and villagers, shepherds with their goats and ancient sites on a cultural and scenic coastline. Lately the Loggerhead (Caretta Caretta) Turtle population seems to have increased, so you may be fortunate enough to view these graceful creatures in their natural habitat! The cruise-hike on the Lycian Way invites you to enjoy the best of what southern Turkey has to offer by exploring by both land and sea.
About the cruise-hike gulets:
The Albatros Q gulet is 18 m long built in the finest Turkish tradition. The five cabins are equipped with double beds, storage space and private shower and toilet. Her sister ship the Avuncan is a larger ketch style gulet with a lovely and spacious deck and features 7 cabins also with modern private facilities. Both have dining areas, sunbeds and protective tarp which you can use both during the day, or if you would like to sleep out under the stars in the evening. Life on board the gulet is relaxing and comfortable even if you do not want to join the hikes. You can read, listen to music, hang out at the ships bar, snorkel, sunbathe and swim just enjoying the days.
Your hosts: Most of the hiking cruises will be hosted by Captain Ertan (owner of Albatros Q) andhis wife Seda, who is a licensed professional guide speaking English, German and Turkish and who will lead the walks whenever she is available. A ship’s mate will also assist onboard (total crew of 3).
Meals onboard: The chef treats you to a variety of delicious Turkish cuisine. In the mornings we enjoy an ample and varied breakfast with complimentary tea and coffee, lunches feature fresh salad and fruit. For the evening meal is a balance mix of vegetables, salad, meat or fish. Sometimes we also have a grill onboard! You may purchase beverages and local spirits from the ships bar at reasonable prices.
